This weekend was the Bay Area Record Fair, lovingly called BARF, at the Swedish American Hall in San Francisco. The event is a chance for people to get exposed to and (of course) buy music from more than 40 independent local labels, studios, record stores, and other music-related organizations. The event is run by Father/Daughter Records and is presented by Noise Pop.
Anyone that thinks that the local music scene of San Francisco is dead should have seen this event. All sorts of independent record labels, vendors, and musicians were present at this event, promoting their (local) music. The event was multiple rooms of booths selling music and engaging in conversations about local music.
